Welcome 2025

Quick look back at 2024 highlights and what we are doing in 2025.

Reflections on 2024

Greenbelt Development:

  • Our Greenbelt area saw exciting progress with Phase 1 of development, including the planting of 20 trees by our landscaper, Haven.
  • This area is bordered by Prescott, Fredrick and Ascot and was unimproved by the developers since the establishment of the neighborhood.
  • Our vision is to create a peaceful, low-maintenance space for walking, reading, and enjoying nature.

Haven Landscaping Improvements:

  • Addressed thinning/dead sod along Coralberry
  • Raised tree canopies for more light and safety during ice storms
  • Removed dead or damaged trees
  • Repaired aging irrigation sprinkler heads and valves

Yard of the Month:

  • We continued our program, recognizing beautifully maintained homes, May to August.
  • HOA Board purchased $25 gift cards as prizes
  • Additional categories for best Fall/Halloween yard decorations and December holiday displays

Pool Complex:

  • Pool was open again for 6 months in 2024 from April 27th to Oct 26th.
  • Due to ongoing issues with the prior pool vendor, we contracted with a new vendor in June, and they have done a wonderful job.
  • Planned pool season for 2025: April 27th to Oct 26th - last Sat of April to the last Sun of Oct.

Social Events:

  • Successful events included the Spring Fling, Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat and Winter Holiday (pictures next page)
  • Volunteers dedicated their creativity and hours to ensure enjoyable gatherings for all.

2025 underway:

Social Committee:

  • Formed by volunteer homeowners, organizes various events throughout the year
  • Past events:  Spring Fling, Summer Pool Bash, Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat, Winter Holiday, Pot Lucks, Food Trucks and Concert in the Park.
  • We’d love to expand our event offerings but need your help! Join the Social Committee to help bring more great events to the ‘hood.
  • Interested individuals can share ideas or join by emailing contact information to PHNEBoard@gmail.com

Greenbelt Development:

  • Phase 2 plans for our Greenbelt development has been finalized, focusing on creating a beautiful, low-maintenance nature area. Look for activity here in the fall and winter.

Landscape Enhancements:

  • Raise tree canopies for more light
  • Replace previously removed trees in the park/around the pool in the fall
  • We have replace shrubs along Coralberry and added 4 Nelly R Stevens which will grow to be nice show pieces.
  • Replace aging irrigation controllers

Yard of the Month:

  • Landscape Committee to select monthly winners highlighting neighbors who enhance the community’s beauty
  • Selections from May to August/September, including Fall/Halloween, and Winter/December holidays

Pool Complex:

  • Restroom renovations were completed prior to the pool opening for 2025.
  • A storage building was added to the North end of the pool complex to provide added storage for social activities at the Cabana.
  • The kiddie Pool was repaired by our wonderful new pool vendor and has been working great this season.
  • Ordered pool furniture which is on the way.
  • Evaluating shade structures.

Call for volunteers to join the committee by sending contact information to PHNEBoard@gmail.com.

Home Thoughts

  • For healthier trees and a brighter lawn, prune in late fall, winter, or early spring when new growth is strongest.
  • Air Conditioners are expensive, so set a reminder to replace filters, flush drip lines and rinse off outside units to help them last longer.
  • Looking for affordable mulch? Texas Pure Products (texaspureproducts.com) recycles yard waste into high-quality mulch, compost, and soil. You can also get free mulch through ChipDrop (getchipdrop.com).
  • Prevent costly water damage by inspecting chimneys and checking your toilet mechanisms for leaks.
  • Fencing will last much longer if stained or painted.
  • Look in your attic and if you can see the wood joists, then you need to add insulation.
  • Our mature trees are a wonderful and rare asset in Frisco. Know what grass to use as your trees mature and whether larger flower beds are the answer.
    • Bermuda was put in by the developers as it is the cheapest, but it needs the most light and is unforgiving under mature trees.
    • St Augustine can do well under well pruned trees, but it needs more water and is susceptible to a variety of diseases and pests.
    • Zoysia has the drought tolerance of Bermuda and the shade tolerance of St. Augustine.
